Our Flight, Our Family
Maniac-Mike's Café has served the Upland community since 1999, when the Stewart family took over the airport café and reopened in August 2000 with the name inspired by Michael "Maniac Mike" Stewart. The nickname began when Michael told his mother he was returning to the restaurant life, and she joked he must be a maniac. That spirit of grit and good humor shaped the café you know today.
In April 2018 we lost Maniac Mike to ALS, and four days later a fire declared the café a total loss. Our family chose to rebuild for the community we love, reopening on June 10, 2019, which would have been his 64th birthday. Through every challenge, we have focused on fresh, cooked-to-order meals, warm smiles, and the unique joy of plane-watching from our dog-friendly patio. Today, our dedicated team carry the legacy forward with friendly service, vegan options, and a promise to make your visit feel like home at the edge of the runway.
