at Cable Airport
We hope that you join us soon for some good ole airport talk, fresh food and weather permitting, a lot of aircraft flying. Below you will find some information about this particular café.
Cable Airport was begun in 1945 by the Cable Family, Dewey, Maude, Paul, Walter, Millie and Roger, The café was the second building completed, the restroom (rock house as known here) was first, then on to the lounge which was the airport office and then flight school The first meals, pictured below, (circa, 1947),were served by Maxine and Maude Cable to the helping hands that toiled daily in clearing of the runway and taxi area, and in constructing the main building.
As time passed the café passed from the family to lessors wanting to try their hand at the business. The café was a dinner house in the late 50's for a short period but re-emerged as what would be a great little café with a wonderful view.
On August 14, 2000, Maniac-Mikes Café opened and from there on out a new experience arose to Cable Airport. Owner Michael Stewart, 3rd generation Cable, and his family, have restyled the café back to some of the original persona evident of the late forties. With this new restoration came a restaurant that is open to see the beautiful views of the mountains and the rest of the valley.
Please come join us for great food, views and an experience of a life time.
